Webinar: Puppets for Learning Language

Auslan interpreters have been booked for this webinar.
Join us for an engaging webinar on using puppets for language learning, guided by the ECLP concept of ‘Keep it Interactive.’ In this session, we will explore how interactive and responsive contexts using puppets significantly enhance language engagement. By leveraging opportunities for conversation, actions, and gestures, through puppetry we can create environments more conducive to learning, facilitating engagement and active participation in the program.
This webinar will include:
- 10 Tips for making a puppet come alive.
- Using a puppet so YOU feel comfortable doing so
- Using a puppet for settling children and promoting engagement
- Using a puppet to make language more accessible for learning
Note that this is NOT about performing a puppet show for children. It is about using puppets as a “tool” to enhance learning opportunities.
To make the most of the training, all participants should have a puppet with a mouth that opens and shuts. For teachers of Auslan, a puppet with glove hands is best. Lucia will demonstrate a range of puppets and some are available for purchase prior to the training via https://www.puppetsforlearning.com.au/shop/
About the presenter:
Lucia Smith is a speech pathologist and puppeteer with over 30 years’ experience. She runs Zoom in puppetry training sessions almost weekly. Despite the workshop being very practical, the online platform works surprisingly well!
