New Children's Services Regulations - Consultation Now On

New Children's Services Regulations - Consultation now on

The Victorian Government is progressing the children's services law reform by aligning, where appropriate, the Victorian children’s services legislation and regulations with the National Quality Framework.

Work is underway to remake the Children’s Services Regulations before they expire on 18 May 2020.

Proposed new regulations and a Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) were released for public consultation on Monday 17 February 2020.

The proposed regulations include changes to staffing (qualifications and ratios) and premises requirements for children’s services. Feedback on the proposed regulations and the regulatory options in the RIS is welcomed.

Face-to-face consultation sessions are being held across Victoria from the 24th February to the 2nd March.

To register for a session, complete a survey or provide a written submission, you can visit Engage Victoria. The consultation period ends on 17 March 2020.

Your feedback will help inform the final Children’s Services Regulations 2020.

The new regulations are intended to come into effect on 17 May 2020 together with the Children’s Services Amendment Act 2019.
