About:
Action on Aboriginal Perspectives in Early Childhood invites you to a professional development opportunity 'Buying the Real Thing'.

Come along and participate in a presentation and discussion about purchasing authentic resources in your service. The presentation will include discussion of the following questions:

  • Who are the traditional owners of the area that your centre is located on? Why is it important to incorporate this into your teaching and learning?
  • Do the resources in your service reflect local Aboriginal knowledge respectfully?
  • Is the source of Aboriginal design (artists, local groups) stated? For example, if the resource has a particular design, has the artist and cultural group been acknowledged?

Interactive poster display
You will also have the opportunity to engage with interactive displays and hear stories from several kindergartens and children’s services as they share their insights about embedding Aboriginal perspectives within their program.
